The Congressional Two-step with Mick Mulvaney

I always enjoy asking a question and getting an answer that directs the subject in another direction because the person you question doesn’t want to answer the question at hand. This is what appears to have happened when I questioned House Representative Mick Mulvaney about the 5th Amendment. The Congressional two-step begins.

Under the 5th Amendment you are under NO obligation to tell the government anything that they may one day use against you in court so how can congress pass a law that says you have to tell them something? You would think asking a lawyer about this would be a simple question. But No.

Mulvaney starts with “I get this question a lot.” but proceeds to go back to the 2nd Amendment because I used the CWP as an example. My question was about the 5th. When I finally get him to speak to the 5th Amendment he states, “The social convention over the course of the last 200 years is we are willing to make some limitations on our own [rights].” WHAT? “Social convention” is a reason for the government to step on my rights? Where is that spelled out in the Constitution? He continues, “You can waive any of your Constitutional rights”. Actually you can’t but that was an argument for another time. But even if I could where does it say I have to in order to appease government? Because that is now “the social norm”? Really Mick?

Later I questioned him again. And again he dances. This time the question went to the 16th Amendment and the Supreme court ruling that the 16th Amendment gave Congress no new taxing authority. He does go into a story about a college professor who said he would give an automatic A on an exam to any student who can show the section of the code that says you have to pay an income tax.

So what does the code say…

“Title 26 CFR Ch. 1 (4-1-03 Edition) (iii) The purpose of publishing revenue rulings and revenue procedures in the Internal Revenue Bulletin is to promote correct and uniform application of the tax laws by Internal Revenue Service employees and to assist taxpayers in attaining maximum voluntary compliance by informing Service personnel and the public of National Office interpretations of the internal revenue laws, related statues, treaties, regulations, and statements of Service procedures affecting the rights and duties of taxpayers. Therefore – issues and answers involving substantive tax under the jurisdiction of the Internal Revenue Service will be published in the Internal Revenue Bulletin.”

I have been to several of these Town hall meetings and always leave feeling like I just danced with a master. Is it the lawyer or the politician I just danced with? Is there a difference? But Mick was right. Social convention does allow for a lot of things that an informed populace would stand against. Or at least one would hope they would.

He may not like my questions but at least he is willing to listen and put himself out there.

What Revolution?

The one that will never come? The one that never came? With all the rights the people of this country have seen disappear there never was a revolution. What would make the people think there ever will be one?

“The Government will never get my guns.”

“The people will fight back if there is a gun confiscation.”

No. The government is already taking your guns and no-one is fighting back.  Some are even helping. Every person who applied for a Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) has been in league with the government. You have gone to the government and asked “Permission” to exercise a God-given right. And in doing so you have signed a contract giving up that right.  You’ve even given up your 5th Amendment right just by filling out the form. You know, the part that says you don’t have to be a witness against yourself.

Juries everyday find people guilty of crimes involving “illegal guns”, generally meaning they are not permitted to own or carry them. But this is a violation of the rights of the person possessing the gun. So why is it allowed?

It is allowed because the people have been conditioned to accept it. And the conditioning will continue and the people will not revolt. They will find more and more excuses to pass more and more laws and through “law enforcement” pick us off one by one until there are none left. They have no reason to go door to door to take your guns because eventually you will give them up.

”But they won’t get MY gun.”

Look at your child or grandchild. Would you hold on to your gun if the only way to feed or clothe that child was by giving up your gun? Would you get in a gun battle with a government entity who would have custody of that child should your efforts fail? You think the government doesn’t already know the answer to these questions?

Look at what you have given up already…

  • Freedom of speech… From “Free Speech” zones to fear of the “political climate” people are not only afraid to speak their minds but afraid to be associated with anyone who does.
  • Peaceful Assembly…When people are told they must have a “permit” (Permission) to assemble then the right is gone. And anyone who applies for the “permit” has helped to destroy that right.  And anyone who has enforced that “permit” has violated the rights of the person who either refused to apply or the person who was coerced into applying for the permit. (“Papers please.”)
  • Petitioning the Government for Redress of Grievance… Why does no-one do this? The government should be so bogged down in paperwork there should be time for little else. Oh, that’s right, at some point some government employee will say, “You really should get a lawyer.” Now comes all the lovely fees.
  • Unreasonable searches and seizures… “Probable Cause”. Need I say more? The people have been so led to believe that it is OK to “search and/or seize” just because an officer thinks it is OK, especially if “You have nothing to hide.”. Have we really come to the point we think others should have unlimited power over us whether we have anything to hide or not? (If your answer is “Yes” please defriend me on Facebook.)
  • To be confronted with witnesses against you…”Confidential informants” The no-see-ums of Law Enforcement. (This alone should get jurors to judge against LE.) Obtaining witnesses in your favor… Not if a judge thinks it brings no merit to the case for whatever reason a judge decides. Who gave them this power?
  • Assistance of counsel… I bet you thought that meant a “lawyer”, right?  That is what they want you to believe. But “counsel” is anyone who can counsel you on your rights.
  • Right to trial by jury… How many have waved this right and paid a fine because a trial would just be too inconvenient? As long as the “state” makes money and it costs them nothing they will continue to harass.
  • “nor excessive fines”… We are fined for everything and always in excess. The bait and switch is to call it a “fee” and impose it on everything.  And the reasoning is that by going about your daily life you might commit a crime.
  • “nor cruel and unusual punishments”… You go to jail just because an officer doesn’t like your attitude, or worse yet, he doesn’t like you. Maybe you are “known” to LE as someone who doesn’t like them depriving people of their rights, maybe they are told to watch for any opportunity to arrest or harass you. (You think these guys won’t enforce any gun law, constitutional or not?)
  • Rights retained by the people… The 9th Amendment states that if the people wish to retain their rights there is NOTHING contained in the Constitution that can be construed as to deprive them of that right.
  • Your 10th Amendment rights… “States Rights” is what this is pushed as but the last statement is “or, to the people.” How have we managed to let others use this as a way to remove federal power over us just to be replaced by State power? If your tyrant is local is he any less a tyrant?

Recently my Mother passed away and as I jumped through the governments hoops of giving up my rights to settle her affairs (Yeah, they got me).I couldn’t help but wonder how it got to this point.

Because people always give way to government. Why? Because they say they know what is best? What makes them the experts on what is best? “Because things are different now”? How are they different? “They have bigger weapons”? Why do “they” have bigger weapons? Who gave them the right to have bigger weapons? “Because you will go to jail”? Why will you go to jail? Why are juries so dumbed down? What gives the government the right to arrest you for exercising a right?

The capitulation will continue and they will never have to fear a revolution.

i wish i could

it is hard when you know what is wrong and need to show people but they choose not to listen. I wish so hard that for just one minute I could get them to see. a small voice on a vast globe denouncing the lie that the world is. the indoctrination is so strong that even those who do see refuse to see it all. feeling alone and trapped. no longer knowing what to do. no longer knowing what to say. a wee small voice fading…

is it enough to say, “I tried.”?

i have become a tear in the rain.

Something Wicked This Way Comes…..

Welcome to the reality we now live in. A reality of vague half-truths that are above the comprehension of the average man. Not because he doesn’t look but because he is unaware he needs to. A well-trained populace of people who dimly see beyond themselves.

Mainly we should thank the German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel .  His philosophy has been used by many. One example is John Davison Rockefeller.  Rockefeller never believed in competition and contrary to popular belief was a supporter of labor unions. It is simply a matter of supporting both sides in a conflict to keep the conflict alive and control the outcome to ones advantage. This is the driving force of Hegel’s dialectic.  It appears as both sides are in constant conflict but they are working for the same goal.

In politics it is seen as the left-right paradigm. It appears as a communistic left in conflict with a capitalistic right. This is just an extension of what has come to be known as Rockefellerism.  The goal is global dominion.  The tactic is known as divide and conquer. It would never be wise to have the people have a common goal of freedom so they have to be trained to be at odds with each other. And if this doesn’t have the outcome you are seeking in one situation introduce another, and another til the people are so consumed with the battles they forget what they should have fought for in the first place.

Now introduce groups that will lead the people to their original goal and use these groups to more enslave the people in their useless fights. Introduce leaders that will save them from the lies but trick them into more lies. Push your propaganda on as many fronts as it takes while you sit back and watch the people fall for one ruse after another. And if a single voice is so bold as to say “WAIT!” beat it into submission so the masses will only follow who you want them to. Create frenzied masses to attack for a tin god you set up so as to destroy anyone who would bring forth the truth and show the people what they have fallen into in the name of patriotism. Create a paradigm where that one small voice will always stand alone and soon be forgotten.

Did Sheriff Matthews Traffic Enforcement Unit Put Kershaw County In The RED?

According to an article in  the Chronicle Independent out of Camden, SC on Monday, April 9,2012  it may have done just that. Herein lies the problem, it seems County Council Chairman Gene Wise is under the impression that if a deputy writes a ticket the courts are always suppose to see the deputies side. Wise is reported as saying he believes our courts should be “profit centers” for the county, not dispensers of justice.  Seems the courts do not agree. Well, now that requires an ad hoc committee and they have to call in everyone, the County Administrator, the chief magistrate, the Sheriff and the County Auditors to see why the judges are not playing nice.

Even Jimmy Jones has weighed in against the magistrates it appears. He states in the article he knows the activity is there and the deputies are writing three times as many tickets but the courts are “obviously doing something over there.” Maybe they are taking their cues from the Supreme Court, if it is wrong it is wrong. So like Obama they need to go forth and blame the courts.

So, how does this put the county in the red? Well it turns out the goose that layed the rotten egg, Sheriff Jim Matthews newly formed traffic enforcement unit, costs the county $350,000 to start up by purchasing the four new cars and the four new officers for the first year and Matthews told us it would pay for itself in the first six months but now  it has been 8 months and we are $130,000 behind. We are a long ways from being revenue expense neutral.   What does this mean? It means instead of going forth to serve and protect the deputies have to spend all their time writing tickets to cover their pay.  This means they are more likely than not harassing motorists who make the slightest of mistakes. Matthews has stated in the past that everyone stopped would at least get a warning, guess now they will all get tickets.

Vic Carpenter , the County Administrator, is reported as stating that the county would have to collect $30,000 a month going forward to become revenue neutral. He states the figures “haven’t come close to $30,000 a month.” But also states they have  been “picking up a little in the last two to three months.” according to the article. And I would suspect that after the printing of this article by the Chronicle they will be picking up even more. So if you have to drive through Matthews Cou, I mean Kershaw county please practice safe driving.

Patriots Under Attack

It all started innocent enough. On July 15, 2011 I posted an article on a group page on Facebook, Kershaw County Patriots . It was an article by Larkin Rose entitled “When should you Shoot a Cop?” with the statement “Please, read the article before you comment” because of the controversial title. The article was about at which point does enforcing law become tyranny. Shortly thereafter Jeff Mattox, who was head of the Kershaw County Patriots at the time, came along and clicked the “like” button. This also in itself would have been an innocent act but for the fact the Sheriff, Jim Matthews, was a member of the group and did not like Mr. Mattox speaking out about the county counsel giving the Sheriff money for unConstitutional “safety checks”.

The local paper picked up the story as the Sheriff put all his deputies on heightened alert. (Appendix A) Then the local TV station, WIS-TV channel 10 out of Columbia, S.C. ran the story. The story was reported by Jody Barr. This of course was a twist on what was really going on. No one was threatening the life of officers or encouraging others to do so. It appeared as no one bothered to read the article but everyone read the title.

On February 10, 2012 Jeff Mattox and Larry Risvold met with a group called the Cayce Mafia and both spoke out about what was going on in the county with the Sheriff. The meeting was videotapped and placed on YouTube. Again Jody Barr did a report on WIS-TV and later posted the article on the stations web site. Again attacking the group and Mr’s Mattox and Risvold. Again trying to make everyone look like domestic terrorists. As of the Cayce meeting Mr. Mattox was no longer part of the Kershaw County Patriots and although he and Mr. Risvold were there they did not go as a representative of the group but each spoke on his own behalf about his own experiences.

Following the release of the video by WIS news the Elgin Town Council, led by Brad Hanley, decided to pass a resolution in favor of these unConstitutional “saftey checkpoints” and attacked Mr. Risvold for standing up for our rights. Again Jody Barr reports. Again it gets twisted. But this time there is a new twist. The original report Mr. barr did on February 21, 2012 at 5:00 pm again made Mr. Risvold look like a domestic terrorist. Mr. Barr promised a follow up report after the meeting and one was forthcoming which appeared at 7:00 and showed Mr. Risvold reading part of a prepared statement in which he defended the Constitution. (Appendix B)What is strange is that Mr. Barr did not post this last video on the WIS news page, nor does it appear on the landing page for WIS videos and is only available now because it was recorded when it aired on the WIS 10 news at 7:00 on February 21, 2012.

This leaves me with the question, was this simply an oversight on the part of Mr. Barr or was this an attempt to hide the truth? As of the posting of this article the 7:00 video is still not available at WIS-TVs web site

Sheriff, chiefs warn officers after Web post

Sheriff’s deputies and police officers are always on their guard. They are trained to deal with the unknown, even when pulling someone over for a minor traffic violation.

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews and Elgin Police Department (EPD) Chief Harold Brown both placed their deputies and officers on slightly higher alert Monday after a local group posted a link to what they said was a disturbing article on its Facebook page July 15. Camden Police Department (CPD) Chief Joe Floyd said he is reminding his officers of their past training regarding traffic stops.

The Kershaw County Patriots — a group representative Jeff Mattox agreed can be categorized as part of the Tea Party movement — maintains the Facebook page. While anyone can read what Kershaw County Patriots members have posted, you must join the Facebook group in order to post items or leave comments about posts. On Saturday, a Patriots member posted a link to an article on CopBlock.org by Larken Rose entitled “When Should You Shoot a Cop.” Mattox, who lives in Elgin and is also the co-chair of the Kershaw County Republican Party, “Liked” the post, drawing more attention to Rose’s article.

In the article, Rose compares American law enforcement officers and agencies to Communist and Nazi regimes, calls the war on drugs “fascist” and posts that most Americans are unwilling to face the “tyranny” of lawmakers and law enforcers.

Rose concluded with the following words:

“The next time you hear of a police officer being killed ‘in the line of duty,’ take a moment to consider the very real possibility that maybe in that case, the ‘law enforcer’ was the bad guy and the ‘cop killer’ was the good guy. As it happens, that has been the case more often than not throughout human history.”

That made Sheriff Matthews mad.

“I found out about this the day before going to a Laurens County deputy’s funeral, so it was especially irritating,” Matthews said.

A Clinton man wanted for shooting his girlfriend shot and killed 29-year-old Laurens County Deputy Roger Rice as he tried to arrest the man July 14. Matthew’s said he attended Rice’s funeral Sunday.

“The article in and of itself doesn’t advocate shooting an officer, but some who read it will get out of it what they want,” Matthews said. “Some warped individuals may get it in their mind that it’s OK to resist an officer to the point of shooting them.”

The sheriff also expressed concern that the Patriots might be linked to the Sovereign Citizen movement. The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), on its website, describes sovereign citizens as “anti-government extremists who believe that even though they physically reside in this country, they are separate or ‘sovereign’ from the United States. As a result, they believe they don’t have to answer to any government authority, including courts, taxing entities, motor vehicle departments or law enforcement.”

The FBI indicated that belief has led sovereign citizens to decide not to pay their taxes, “hold illegal courts that issue warrants for judges and police officers” and “clog up” courts with lawsuits in order to harass public officials. In addition, the FBI says sovereign citizens have committed murder; threatened judges, law enforcement and government personnel; impersonated officers and diplomats; used fake currency and documents; and engineered white-collar scams including mortgage fraud.

“I don’t know if they’re aligned with the Sovereign Citizen movement,” Matthews said of the Kershaw County Patriots. I don’t know if they all have the same membership rolls, but they certainly seem to hang together.”

Mattox denied the Patriots is affiliated with Sovereign Citizens.

“There are some Sovereign Citizen movements. I’m not affiliated with any of them — we’re not affiliated with them in any way,” Mattox said. “There are nut jobs all around the world. There’s so many different groups out there. There’s good cops and bad cops and to label any particular group as bad because of one individual is not the way to look at this.”

Matthews also noted that Mattox himself posted a link to a YouTube video entitled “End of Liberty.” In linking to the video, Mattox wrote “about 30 minutes into the video shows what the cops are doing to us. Robbery!”

At that point in the video, the unidentified narrator begins claiming that some states are making it illegal for citizens to record video of “out of control cops.” A few minutes later, the narrator switches to speaking out about what he says is local governments and agencies “going crazy to collect every penny owed to them.” Specifically, the narrator claims that officers are “waiting behind every tree with radar guns and stopping otherwise law-abiding citizens for seat belt violations” as a “desperate revenue grab.” It then shows a police dash cam video of a driver given a ticket for some type of violation who then drives their car backwards with enough force to actually ride up over the patrol car.

“I think this is all an overreaction to what’s going on in Washington with (President Barack) Obama,” Matthews said. “I’m a conservative myself but they (Patriots) are ultra right wing … extremist. I don’t go to Kershaw County Republican Party meetings anymore because — and I ran as a Republican — they have hijacked the meetings.

“They posted this on their Facebook page. I wouldn’t post it. They have the Constitutional right to do so, but there are times when you exercise your rights, you have to do so responsibly.”

Matthews categorized the Patriots’ posting of the links to the article and video as “irresponsible” and “hateful.”

“It makes you wonder what they are doing that they want to isolate themselves from any law enforcement intervention,” he said.

Matthews said he decided to alert his deputies to be extra careful because of the posts.

“I’ve made them aware that there is a group in this county that is reading stuff that says it’s OK to shoot a cop,” he said. “They always have to be careful, but when you get information like this, you need to be more vigilant. That article does suggest that, at certain times, it’s OK to shoot a cop.”

Elgin’s Chief Brown said he has alerted all his officers to use more caution after learning about the links. The Kershaw County Patriots group is known to hold its meetings inside the town of Elgin.

“It’s in the best interest for my officers to be very careful right now, because people with that opinion (that shooting cops is OK) can prove to be very dangerous. We take this very seriously,” Brown said.

The CPD’s Floyd said traffic stops can be among the most dangerous of contacts. “We do a lot of traffic stops,” Floyd said. “We can have people driving through from (anywhere), so we keep our training on our guys’ minds.”

Floyd said Matthews contacted him about the posts Wednesday.

“With this new information, we’ll reinforce that training for them. We make a lot of traffic stops and all our cars have radar. Therefore, they are all trained about the dangers surrounding that type of contact. This will provide a united front along with the sheriff and (Elgin) chief.”

Mattox said the Kershaw County Patriots is not advocating anyone shoot a cop by posting a link to Rose’s article.

“We may not support all the views in there. We don’t filter (the Facebook posts). It’s an open group,” Mattox said during a telephone interview Wednesday. “I support his right to say what (Rose is) saying. He does have some good points. Although we don’t advocate shooting cops, it does create a discussion.”

That, Mattox said, is what the Kershaw County Patriots Facebook page is for.

“It’s so people can post things and start discussions. Hopefully, that defuses any questions that people have. It’s just a community thing where they can converse,” he said.

Mattox said he agrees with some posts his fellow Patriots post, others he does not. In some cases, such as the link to Rose’s article, he agrees with portions of a post. He also said he understands concerns expressed by members of law enforcement over the link to the article.

“Police sometimes do overstep their bounds,” Mattox said, “but advocating shooting a cop? No. It’s just kind of a conversation.”

Still, Mattox doesn’t shy away from criticizing Matthews and the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office. In fact, Mattox claimed that Matthews said during appearances before Kershaw County Council that license checks are unconstitutional.

“Now, these unconstitutional acts are being perpetrated in our county,” Mattox said.

Matthews said Mattox is half-right.

The sheriff said that, in his mind, narcotics checkpoints are “definitely” unconstitutional. On the other hand, he said he believes vehicle safety checkpoints — which he said include not only checking to make sure a car’s headlights, for example, are working right but can include checking a driver’s license and insurance — are constitutional.

“I have not, am not and will not have narcotics checkpoints,” Matthews said. “What you have to guard against is that you’re not using (safety checkpoints) as a pretext for narcotics. You can’t have all your narcotics agents at a location under the guise of a vehicle safety checkpoint.”

Matthews said what he said to council in January was that he questioned the “practicality” of stationary checkpoints.

“But I never questioned the constitutionality of checking someone’s license. There has to be some type of lawful traffic stop. Since I took office, we have not conducted and have no plans to conduct any checkpoints. I just don’t like them. They hassle a lot of people who are doing nothing wrong,” he said.

In speaking of the “End of Liberty” video, however, Mattox insisted law enforcement conducts speed traps and “unconstitutional license checks” as a “way to fund themselves.”

“It’s kind of like the tax man,” Mattox said. “The IRS is unconstitutional. Taxation, at its root, is robbery. For free people, that kind of taxation is not the way to liberty. So, when you look at the way law enforcement handles speeding tickets … they are arbitrarily deciding where that line is. They can move that line at any time necessary in order to generate funding. So goes the theory, anyway.”

Mattox pointed to county council’s Jan. 4 meeting when Matthews and Councilman Jimmy Jones agreed to make the sheriff’s new traffic enforcement unit “revenue neutral.” At that meeting, Mattox had urged council not to fund any of Matthews’ initiatives in order to “break the cycle of government growth and a movement towards a police state.”

Wednesday, Mattox asked if the traffic enforcement unit’s goal is to slow people down or generate revenue.

“As more and more counties are forced into ever increasing revenue due to decreases in other revenue, this (traffic units) may become a more important way to raise revenue. These are always questions that have to be brought up,” he said.

Mattox said the Kershaw County Patriots believe in limited government, living within one’s means and that government should be accountable and be “by and for” the people.

Following Wednesday’s interview, Mattox posted again to the Patriots’ Facebook page, noting that “some posts on this page have offended” some people.

“Good!” he wrote and posted a link to another YouTube video title “The Philosophy of Liberty.” “If one is offended let them defend their position and not complain to others. If one does not have the courage of their convictions and the courage to express them in open debate, then let them remain silent.”

In responding to someone else’s comment under that post, Mattox added, “Those who would suppress free speech because it offends are the very ones who will try to force their views on others.

“Force always, ALWAYS, is met with an equal but opposite force. Einstein’s Theory, not mine.”

Elgin Mayor Brad Hanley said while he knew the attitudes espoused by the Kershaw County Patriots was a growing problem within the U.S., he never expected anything so close to home.

“I’ve been aware this was becoming a bigger national problem,” Hanley said, “And the fact that it appears to be in our own backyard is disturbing.”

 Appendix B

Statement concerning Larry B. Risvold’s support of Law Enforcement Dated February 21, 2012

I want to make it perfectly clear that I support all Law Enforcement; after all I wore a uniform for over 28 years. I know about what it is like to cross the line of departure (another words head into trouble) not knowing if you will be coming back or not. Our Police Officers are a very important part of our society for they are truly Public Servants here to protect and serve the citizens. It is the Constitution that gives them this authority and which makes the Sheriff of every county the sole legal authority to protect the citizenship.

I gave an oath many times over to, “support and defend the Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic,” and I take that oath seriously after serving over 28 years in the United States Marine Corps. I am also a member of the Oat Keepers which supports both Police Officers and Active Duty Military, (www.oathkeepers.org). So when I see our Constitution being trampled over I get very concerned and so should you. Just here recently Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act with language that gives the President the authority to tell the military to apprehend American Citizens without due-process and detain them indefinitely. Right here in South Carolina Bill H.4740 is sitting in S.C. House of Representatives; this bill if passed would keep the people from learning about crime in their communities and eliminate any public accountability of law enforcement agencies state wide by blocking the Freedom of Information Act. Let’s move on to the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 H.R. 658 where in Section 334 Public Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drones), this is where Home Land Security has requested 30,000 Drones to fill American skies not the border but our home towns by the end of the decade and to get as many drones in the air as possible within nine months. Now take another look at the last Census and you will find that the United Nations directed America to enter all residence into a GPS mapping system by the contractor, which was Lockheed Martin who by the way makes the drones. Now add the random Safety Checks throughout our Nation not just Kershaw County and you should be concerned. All of these items I just discussed took place in the last three months and we as citizens should be very concerned.

It is a shame that if you speak out you get attack, through distorted (cut and paste) articles by the media who should be reporting the truth. As I said before I took my oath very seriously and I will continue to speak out when our Constitutional Rights are being abused. Larry B. Risvold

The 1st Amendment.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people to peacefully assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

“Congress shall make no law respecting [showing partiallity] an establishment of religion , or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” Yes we do have the right in America to exercise our religion but the churches have been conned into accepting the governments seal of approval.  The 501 (c) 3 tax exemption. Should we blame the government for this one. I don’t think so. They are opportunists and took advantage of the ignorant. I think we should blame the churches and pastors who took part and the congregations that enable them to continue. Why is it so hard to get people to give to the churches if they can’t deduct it off their taxes at the end of the year? Personally I wonder why they give to these modern churches at all, but that is me.
When the church accepts the 501 (c) 3 they are then under government regulation. I thought “Christian” churches were suppose to be under Christ. Oh well, can’t deduct the dollars if you follow Christ. And we know the all mighty debt, I mean dollar, is god.

“…or abridging the freedom of speech…” Do we still have freedom of speech in America? Yes we do, that is if you can find the posted  free speech zones. You know, the ones they move in the distance so noone you want to hear you, mainly politicians, ever will.  And not just the politicians, but their fawning entourage. Heaven forbid these people should see maybe their favorite overlord to be, or is, is corrupt or unsupportive of their rights. That this jewel is in fact a common stone.
There is this sad pretence in the once “Land of the free and home of the brave” that nothing has altered since its inception. Nothing could be farther from the truth. But we must maintain this pretense to keep the people from really revolting against this unjust regime of totalitarianism that is sweeping this country. So occaisionally we show the protesters and pretend that these are just a bunch of spoiled malcontents that didn’t get their way on some small issue. Then we can all just go back to life as usual. Yawn.

“…or of the press…” This is a good one. The press has abridged itself. Most of the media is owned by certain major corporations who refuse to print or report the truth and the people refuse to take the time required to seek out the ones who do tell the truth. And for the most part they only want their news in sound bites. Complacency is destroying America. But those who lie to us have the freedom to do so. And they are usually the ones who teach us to ridicule the ones who would tell us the truth. We are trained so well.

“…or the right of the people to peacefully assemble…” Ok, this one went the way of the dodo bird the first time someone applied for that permit to assemble.  You know, there always has to be that first person to comply. Well yeah, there is that first law Enforcement officer who goes along too. And I bet both thought they were great Americans who played by the rules. They probably never saw themselves as the ones breaking them.

“…and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances,”  As long as you can afford a lawyer you still have this right too.
